The shelter from life's storms

March 19, 2010

For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie.
If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.

- Habakkuk 2:3

When I was a pastor living in Hobart, Oklahoma, the parsonage had a little hiding place… a storm cellar in the backyard. And every now and then the storm siren would go off warning of the possibility of a tornado in the area. When that happened, people would run to their storm cellars to ride out the storm in a secure place.

Well, as Christ followers, you and I have a place where we can hide and ride out the storms of life. And though the winds may howl, sirens wail, and destruction threaten, you and I can rest securely. That hiding place is in God himself, and his infallible, inerrant Word is the place where we take our stand when our faith is challenged.

God is our shelter and protection. We stand upon his promises. God is trustworthy and his promises are sure. I love what Dr. Warren Wiersbe (pastor, teacher, and author) once wrote. He said, "We don't live by explanations. We live by promises." And God never breaks a promise! Never.

Let him help you develop a tenacious and determined faith. And though you wait to see promises fulfilled, they will surely be fulfilled. He has promised!

This is the faith that endures through life's darkest and most threatening storms.

GOD NEVER BREAKS A PROMISE!

Pause: Resting in God Instead of Stressing Out

Dear Friend,

Do the words rested... peaceful... and refreshed describe you today? Or do the words stressed... rushed... and pressured better describe your way of life?
If you're like most Christians, you'd probably have to admit those last three words more accurately describe your life most of the time!
The good news is that it doesn't have to be this way... even when your life is one big pressure-cooker. And in my new book, Pause: Resting in God Instead of Stressing Out, I'll show you why.
Based on the principles from Paul's letter to the Philippians and Psalm 23, Pause: Resting in God Instead of Stressing Out will help you find true peace and rest in a world that is anything but peaceful and restful. It's the perfect "pause" button you need!
So please request your copy of Pause: Resting in God Instead of Stressing Out when you give online today!  --Jack Graham
