Passing alongside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew the brother of Simon casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. And Jesus said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men.” And immediately they left their nets and followed him.

--Mark 1:16-18

You know, there are far too many Christians who think, “I’ll just use my influence… I’ll just live a good life… and win people to Christ.”

That’s just like a fisherman who tries to influence fish to jump into his boat instead of using a pole! It doesn’t work!

It doesn’t work because — let’s face it — none of us can live a perfect life. And besides, people don’t need your life. They need the life of the Lord Jesus Christ!

Remember, to be an effective fisher of men, you have to live a life that’s different… and you have to tell people why you have the hope that you have! The two go hand in hand. Just living a good life won’t cut it, no matter what you were taught growing up.

Today, I want to challenge you to take the net to where the fish are. Break out of the harbor and the safety of the shoreline and get out there where the fish are! Because it’s true… fish aren’t swimming their way to churches anymore!

MAKE A HALLMARK OF YOUR LIFE AS A CHRISTIAN TO BE A FISHER OF MEN!
