Calculate and Count Upon It!

“Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.” - Romans 6:11

We are to “reckon” ourselves dead to sin, but alive to Jesus Christ. What does that mean? In the South when someone says, “I reckon so,” that means they think so. But that’s not what this word means.

“Reckon” is a legal term to mean “to count upon” or “calculate.” When you trusted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, you reckoned upon what He did on the cross to save you. You depend upon His righteousness.

And just as you reckon upon Him for victory over the penalty of sin, you also reckon upon Him for victory over the power of sin.

Count on it! Reckon yourself to be dead unto sin and alive unto God!
