It Is Best to Rest, Part 1

January 8, 2024

As God unfurled His creation, things seemed to only get grander. With each passing day, God amplified the beauty of His masterpiece. On the fifth day, He created animals. On the sixth day He created His image-bearers—humankind. And on the seventh day . . . He rested.

Although this choice may feel anticlimactic, rest is essential to God’s nature, and He invites His children to rest with Him. Understand how to enter into God’s rest with Pastor Chuck Swindoll as he teaches from Hebrews 4:1–11. Jesus Christ is the only door that leads to true rest and peace!

“I’m so stressed!” This exclamation is the heart cry of many today. No one—not even the most faithful Christian—is immune to relationship strains, job difficulties, and financial challenges. The cure to such trouble is internal rest. True rest is more than just a nap or a vacation. Rest that will soothe anxious souls is found only in Jesus Christ. In Matthew 11:28–30, the Savior said that His yoke is easy and His burden is light. Go to Him as Pastor Chuck Swindoll invites you to cast your worries on the only One who can bear them all.

The Christmas season stirs many hearts with feelings of nostalgia and hope. Few can help but smile at the sight of Christmas lights, the smell of pine, or the sound of jingle bells. Yet when the lights come down, the gladness can grow dim. At the original Christmas, Jesus’ birth was met with angelic songs of celebration. The joy of these heavenly songs, however, need not fade. Those who encounter Jesus continue to be amazed and filled with hope. Stand in awe of the Savior with Pastor Chuck Swindoll as he remembers the miracle of Jesus’ life in Scripture.

During a time when the people of Israel felt most hopeless, God walked in. For hundreds of years, the Israelites endured constant oppression from foreign nations. The prophets had gone silent and the people wondered whether their God had abandoned them. Yet at the right moment, God entered the situation to fight humanity’s greatest battle—not as a mighty warrior, but as a helpless baby. Take the first step in a journey through the life of Jesus with Pastor Chuck Swindoll as he shows through Scripture that God wants to enter your life in a way only He can do!
