A Leader—From the Knees Up!, Part 2

October 17, 2023

Simply put, a leader is one with influence over others. Yet, godly leaders don’t resort to clever persuasion, psychological manipulation, or mere flattery.

Good leaders recognize others’ needs. They respond in faithfulness by bringing those needs before God and by obeying His directives.

Nehemiah 1:1–11 demonstrates how Israel’s new leader relied upon prayer. Discover the power of prayer with Pastor Chuck Swindoll as he tells how communion with God makes you wait, clears your vision, quiets your heart, and activates your faith.

It’s easy to confuse nonessentials with essentials. Food is a fundamental need for every human, yet the types of food we eat can vary according to personal taste and need. In Romans 14, the apostle Paul discusses how believers with opposing viewpoints on nonessentials can live in harmony with one another. Pastor Chuck Swindoll wraps up this series on grace by concluding that, while God loves unity, he doesn’t demand uniformity. Understand how you can extend grace to others even amid differences.

The grim reality of humanity’s sinful condition fills the opening chapters of Paul’s letter to the Romans. But the eighth chapter sounds a refrain of relief: “There is now no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus” (8:1). The gospel is good news because it says that freedom from sin isn’t earned. Rather, it is a gracious gift from God! Join Pastor Chuck Swindoll as he reveals that Christians have a choice—either to continue to yield to the sinful desires of the flesh or to experience true freedom through the power of the Holy Spirit.
