Our Great Shepherd, Jesus!

May 6, 2010
" May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. (Hebrew 13:20,21) As mother’s day is coming up, many mothers are more hurting because of a lost child. Many will be in sorrow without even knowing why. May God of peace comfort us in the time of sorrow! May all of us be comforters to each other!

Psalm 23
We live in a broken world with full of challenges, failures, and disappointments. As life continues, many unknowns lie before us that can weigh us down, inflicting wounds that often get buried or ignored. We have been created to thrive in our relationships with God, our family, our neighbors and ourselves. By knowing that God is our Good Shepherd, understanding the identity that we have as his precious sheep, we can find rest and healing in our souls. Through this humble book, Healing Through Psalm 23, may God comfort you who are suffering, who are in pain, who need forgiveness; may you know God, walk confidently and grow into the maturity of coming alongside others in their journey of healing.

Psalm 18:2, “My God is my rock, in whom I take a refuge.” Psalm 91:1-2 ”He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." God is our shelter. God is our protection from trouble and danger. God is the one who has recourse for aid, relief, or escape. When we are in the midst of storms, we will find refuge in God. When we find this refuge in God, we experience peace in our lives. Psalm 18, 91 was a very comforting message for me when I was having a difficult time.

If we have faith, the words of God transform us. And the transformation is an active term. It means constantly moving. It means active. It means something is happening. It is a sign of life. When salt touches a wound, it is sore and it hurts sometimes. But once it heals. It is so good. Let the word of God apply to our wound and let it heal in our heart. God’s grace is sufficient for all our sins and heals our wounds. Not only just to be healed, but strengthen us to be an army of Christ. Just reading Psalm 18 verse one will transform us already! "The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in which I find protection."

I saw the gentle hands of God even after David fell. I can relate to him and I am encouraged to see God is our only HOPE. We can learn from David how he dealt with his own denial, then experienced forgiveness and victory from God even though he had sinned. He did not dwell in despair or sat biting himself for the rest his life. He got up, assembled an entire army and experienced victory against the enemy. God crowned David with the crown from his enemy. He knew why he was living in this world. He knew the purpose of his life. Glorify Him and bring victory in God’s kingdom.

Who can have sweet time at the Garden Tomb? only Christian who delivered from sin and death and experience the resurrection in their lives. Easter is not just a holiday, but the day of transformation! When the resurrection happens in our lives, whether it is in a significant way or a simple way, we know there is resurrection because it has happened in us. For those who are in the darkness, the yearning to come out of it is very real. Whoever experienced this resurrection can help who are in the darkness. Whoever met King of kings who came down from heaven and be a servant for us will be transformed to be like Jesus and serve the least among us who are hurting helplessly. Thank God for our church where I learned to be a real follower of Christ, Christian!

I love the Gospel of John. He described the character of Jesus as LOVE. And he also described sinners with a very compassionate heart. He wrote about this sinful woman, Mary, pouring out her love for Jesus in such beautiful way in John 12:1-10. Regardless of our social status, many of us can relate to Mary in our time, Jesus is the same today, full of LOVE to the broken hearted.. Now we can enter the presence of God without any fear, but with humility and pour out our love for Jesus. Isaiah 53 and John 19 are more dearer for those who were delivered from the darkness by the love of Jesus.

This story is just about a plate. But Our Heavenly Father replaced our sin and death with His precious Son’s righteousness. There is no way to measure of the value of His Son, Jesus Christ. He said "He loves you". You are that precious to God and valuable to Him. Would you come closer to Him and be held by His love today?

"Death has been swallowed up in victory. Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. " When God forgave us, who can condemn us? Believing the forgiveness from God even releases us from the condemnation from people around us. God’s desire is for us to draw near to Him.

The more I experience the love of Jesus, the purer God makes me. Being Holy is experiencing God’s love and we become ‘love’ as God is love. When we love others as Christ did, God sees us as holy. Our faith is made complete in God’s love. All our mistakes and failures will be covered when we cover others failures and mistakes with God’s grace. I find that ‘being holy’ is not a legalistic term, but it is completing in us the language of God’s love -- by living the life of Christ, and loving others as he did. Sometimes it requires many tears, but joy comes in the morning.

Joshua 3, This is how Israel crossed the Jordan River. The Ark of the Covenant is a symbol of Jesus Christ. Only by the blood of Jesus, can we cross the Jordan River in our life. When we believe in Jesus, and trust Him, we can cross the Jordan River. Heavenly Father, we love you, please help us to cleave to the cross, nothing else.

It is God who sanctifies us through our repentance. Repentance is not just regret, nor is it just stopping what we are doing wrong and turning from our wicked way. It is more than that. It is turning our heart to Our Heavenly Father. It is reconnecting of our love relationship with our God and receiving eternal life through his love. Other religions also teach to turn from wrong doing and try to do right or live right, but it is like a hamster in a wheel. There is no loving God who is waiting for us. But in Christianity, there is God, Heavenly Father, waiting to accept us. Real repentance is knowing how deeply we’ve hurt God and then experiencing the sorrow and responding to it. We take up the cross and follow Jesus to let others know how much God loves us in response to the love He has shown us at the cross. We do it because God’s love compels us to.
