Real Life Part 1

April 21, 2011
If you’re a Christian, when you came to Christ, did all your problems and struggles immediately go away? Of course not! We’re really not exempt from the struggles of life as some proclaim. Pastor Mike Fabarez believes it’s important to know what you’re signing up for, before you decide to follow Christ. Real life with God will involve pain, and today on Focal Point, we’ll seek to drive that point home. We take you to 2 Corinthians 1 on this Thursday, a perfect lead-in to the Easter weekend.

This is a special time for Christians all over the world as we recall God’s redemptive work at Calvary. Think of it: if you’re a Christian, one day you’ll be living behind the veil with God! How great is that! Jesus made it all possible, giving us great reason to celebrate not only at Easter but year round! Today on Focal Point, we put the finishing touches on our series, “When God Makes a Promise.” Pastor Mike Fabarez will not only highlight God’s pledge, but His historical assurances too.

As we present part four in Mike Fabarez' series “When God Makes a Promise,” we look back to something that secures our future. We’ll soon see that our future depends on something in the past. This weekend we’ll be celebrating the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. As Christians, we know the significance of God’s redemptive work. It’s how God fixed our sin problem. Mike will have us look back to the cross, because this is what secures our future. And we can live with a hope that one day things will be the way they ought to be.

Today we do virtually everything by legally binding contracts because man’s word and promises aren’t always trustworthy. If we make promises, we ought to keep them, but many times we don't. God, on the otherhand, cannot lie, and every word He speaks is flawless. With that in mind, we can believe His Word with complete confidence. Pastor Mike Fabarez returns to his series, “When God Makes a Promise,” on this Monday and points to the assurance we can have from some things God can and cannot do.

I’m sure most of you have been following what’s transpired over the past month in Japan. Just imagine having your home and possessions wiped out by a wave or earthquake in just seconds! When the circumstances surrounding you are weighing you down, and you’re greatly discouraged, where do you turn? Pastor Mike Fabarez says the promises of God can build us up in the midst of bad times. Strong encouragement is right around the corner today on Focal Point. So if you find yourself discouraged, upset about how things are going in your life, or even depressed, please do join us.

I think it's safe to say we all lose our patience from time to time, and maybe for you right now, you’re growing a bit impatient with God! Do you wonder sometimes why God hasn’t answered your prayers yet? Or maybe like the man we’ll meet today on Focal Point, you wonder if He’ll really come through on His promises? So let’s get some help now for those times when we start to lose our patience. Pastor Mike Fabarez points to Abraham as a template of how God fulfills His promises.

When man makes a promise, he so often fails to deliver and come through, but what about God? Is He reliable and faithful to His promises? Let’s talk about that today on Focal Point. The Bible is full of promises from God, but it’s important to consider if these promises can be trusted. Today we’ll spend a good amount of time looking at how the Lord dealt with Abraham. By the end of our time together it’ll be clear... God is reliable and faithful.

Do you sometimes ponder what’s going to happen after you die, and  can we be absolutely sure we’re headed for heaven? Hebrews chapter six will really serve to help give us a confidence boost, and through this study we’ll show you how you can be confident of who you are and where you’re going. It all hinges on God’s promises, which never fails.

You may feel as though there’s not a lot we can really count on in this world of ours today, but as we’ll see today on Focal Point, we can be absolutely confident of who we are, who’s we are, and where we’re going. Recently we’ve been camped out in chapter six of Hebrews, which is all about assurance. We’ve seen how to make absolutely sure that we’re God’s and on our way to heaven. We need to pause now to consider whether or not God’s promises are sure! Pastor Mike Fabarez will soon show us that God not only wants you to be sure you’re His, but also to be confident that His promises can be counted on!

Many people, including Christians, have their doubts regarding whether or not they’re really saved and on their way to heaven. Maybe that describes you right now? Today on Focal Point, we’ll seek an answer to the all important question, “Am I really a Christian?” We’ll be wrapping up Mike Fabarez’ four part series called, “Almost a Christian.” Can we really know, this side of heaven, if we’re a Christian or not? I'm happy to say we can. Pastor Mike says there are a few things always found in a genuine Christian, and let’s see if they are resident in our own lives.

I think we’ve all had an “almost” experience we can look back upon. Whether it’s almost passing a class in school, almost winning in a sporting event, or perhaps for you it was almost getting that guy or girl of your dreams! But there is no more devastating reality than being an almost Christian, and yet Scripture says many fall into that category. How can we be sure we’re not an almost Christian? Our present series here on Focal Point is helping us with that. In fact, the series is called, “Almost a Christian.” Today in part four, Pastor Mike Fabarez underscores the right Gospel and how to rightly respond to it.
