Serious About Giving

When pastors give sermons about generosity, we might squirm in our seats. Is this a call to pull out our checkbooks or dig deeper into our wallets when the offering plate comes around?  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez explains that while being generous does touch upon our financesk it actually goes much father than money. Charity that makes an impact in the lives of others must include our time, talents and treasures, as well!

Serious About Giving Generosity is a valuable virtue. People who make a habit of giving can seriously impact this world. But according to God’s Word, becoming a charitable person requires more than just an investment of dollars and cents. On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez explores why biblical generosity goes beyond dropping a bigger check in the offering plate. Rather, it’s a shift in our perspective. The way we view our possessions can help us make a difference in the lives of others.

Devoted to Encouragement Next time you’re in church, look around.  You’ll always see someone in need!  In the front, there’s a person who is struggling with relationships. Over there by the door, someone who is tired and ready to give up and God wants to comfort each and every person in that room.  But He is looking to us to help Him do that! On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez shows us how to become God’s tool of comfort and support.

Devoted to EncouragementThere are times when life feels like an uphill race.  We tired, we’re weak, and we seriously doubt we can take another step.  In those moments, it’s a blessing to have a friend who runs alongside saying, “Keep going!” and “You’re doing great!”  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez challenges us to be the ones who encourage and comfort God’s people.

Committed to CommunicationMost of us live in the center of an information highway.  There’s a constant stream of e-mails, text messages, phone calls, twitter feeds and Facebook posts happening all around us!  But within the mass of communication outlets is there a way to connect with others that makes a difference in their lives … and in ours?  On this edition of "Focal Point", Mike Fabarez takes us to a passage in the book of Colossians that provides the answer!

Committed to CommunicationEvery follower of Jesus wants to hear the Savior say those words; “Well done, good and faithful servant.”  God’s Word describes what it means to be such a “faithful servant” and how to make God proud.  On this edition of "Focal Point", we begin a brand new mini-series in the book of Colossians called "People Tools".  It’s a look at what makes God smile and how we can impact those around us.

Preparing to Give More Than Just the Facts Jesus said His words are like a nourishing slice of bread for those that are hungry...both tasty and eternally satisfying.  But often times the way His message is shared, it seems like the gospel is a bland and unfulfilling meal.  On this edition of "Focal Point", Mike Fabarez provides biblical ways to season the gospel and make it both appetizing and nourishing for those around us.

Preparing to Give More Than Just the FactsThey say that over 90 percent of all communication is non-verbal.  Behind the words we use are a host of attitudes, tones, and expressions that convey the true intent of our message.  On this edition of "Focal Point", Pastor Mike Fabarez explores what Scripture has to say about communicating the gospel.  Not necessarily with what we say, but how we say it.

Avoiding the Enemy’s Evangelistic SabotageAccording to Mike Fabarez, to be an effective Courier For Christ, we need to make sure our life matches our message.  If we’re not transparent and authentic, then our words ring hollow.  On this edition of "Focal Point", we take it one step further and apply this principle to our church congregation as well.  If the local church is rife with hypocrisy, why would our unbelieving friends and family want to hear what the Body of Christ has to say?

Avoiding the Enemy’s Evangelistic Sabotage Once you decide to become a "Courier for Christ", look out! If the enemy can’t corrupt the gospel you’re bringing to others, well then, he’ll settle for interfering with the messenger instead! On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez speaks candidly about perhaps one of the biggest traps Satan sets for you. It’s hypocrisy, and it’s a clever way to make those who hear the message of Christ run the other way!

Avoiding the Enemy’s Evangelistic SabotageWhen it comes to our non-Christians friends or family, sometimes it’s not the message of Christ that pushes them away. It’s the messenger. When our attitudes and actions don’t match the words we’re sharing, unbelievers are the first to point out the hypocrisy.  And they base the merits of the Good News on how we live it out! On this edition of Focal Point, we’re continuing our series called "Couriers For Christ".  Mike Fabarez challenges us to reflect the gospel we’re delivering.
