Pastor Mike Fabarez

King of Kings, Part 2

April 3, 2012
When we read about the heroes of the Bible, we picture mighty men and women of God. But when you look a little closer, these people were actually quite ordinary. Today on Focal Point, Mike Fabarez continues a special Palm Sunday message. Gideon was an average guy who was called to deliver the people of Israel. But his example prepares us for what to expect from the Savior of the world.

Countless stories throughout the Bible show us that God is in the rescue business. When people get stuck in the consequences of their sin, God makes a way to set them free. But often, deliverance comes in some unusual packages. Today on Focal Point, Mike Fabarez presents a message called, "King of Kings and Some Unlikely Princes and Princesses." When we study the ordinary men and women that God used in the Old Testament, it helps us understand Jesus’ mission as well.

Do you ever come to a decision and wonder, what does God want me to do? Sometimes the answer is straightforward, and clearly laid out in God’s Word. Other times, there’s no clear right and wrong, and we need discernment to make the best choice. Today on Focal Point, Mike Fabarez is sharing a very important principle for figuring out those gray areas. We’re picking up where we left off yesterday with a message titled, "Choosing to Be Done with Selfish Living."

When we gain salvation in Jesus, we’re also given a great deal of freedom. But while some people use their liberty as an excuse to live any way they please, there’s a higher calling in order. Today on Focal Point, Mike Fabarez continues a study called, "The Black and White on Gray Areas." While the Bible doesn’t spell out every choice we should make, it’s important we live with the right motives.

In our culture, we’re encouraged to look out for number one. It’s only natural to choose what’s best for us, what’ll help us advance, and what’ll make us feel good. Today on Focal Point, we’ll find out that living for ourselves isn’t an option for followers of Jesus. Mike Fabarez is teaching from Romans 14. Sometimes we need to step back and get a biblical perspective on what we’re living for.

There are words we use all the time…but often…we’re not so clear on their meaning. We’ll be talking about one of those words today on Focal Point, as we try to understand the biblical meaning of the word, “judge.” Mike Fabarez is picking up where he left off yesterday. It’s part of a study in Romans 14 called, "The Black and White on Gray Areas." As followers of Jesus, we’re given important guidelines for how to judge.

In every area of life, we’re motivated by the rewards we get. We go to work every day for the reward of a paycheck. Or we spend time at the gym because of the positive physical results we gain. In our spiritual lives, our motivation isn’t much different! Today on Focal Point, Mike Fabarez continues a study called, "Living in Light of Our Coming Judgment." The choices we make right now will determine the rewards we get in heaven.

When no one’s looking, it’s tempting to cut corners and bend our convictions. But when our actions are being monitored, and we’re being held accountable for what we do, it makes a difference in how we go about our lives. Today on Focal Point, Mike Fabarez continues a study in Romans 14. As followers of Jesus, it’s important we remember that everything we do on earth makes a difference in eternity!

Do not steal. Do not lie. Honor your father and mother. The Bible is filled with clear commands for followers of Jesus. In today’s culture, we deal with many issues that aren’t specifically addressed in Scripture, and it’s difficult to discern how to navigate uncharted territory. Today on Focal Point, Mike Fabarez continues a study called, "The Black and White and Gray Areas." Maybe you’re dealing with a few gray areas yourself, right now.

When it comes to following Jesus, we often focus on the point of our conversion. While salvation is a crucial part of establishing our relationship with God, there’s much more to the Christian life! Today on Focal Point, Mike Fabarez presents a study in the book of Romans. It’s a brand new series about "The Black and White and Gray Areas." Today we’ll begin to think carefully about the way we live our life.

What does it take to have a healthy, growing church? That’s the question we’ve been exploring over the last few weeks here on Focal Point. It’s a series originally presented at Compass Bible Church called, "The Non-Negotiables." Mike Fabarez is looking at eight important factors in a Bible-based church. Today, we’ll hear the very last portion of that study. If we’re living out The Great Commission, we should be prepared for our church to grow!
