Designed to Grow Part 1 - What We Need to Fulfill Our Calling

November 1, 2010
For too long people have tried to grow the church in their own strength and by man’s resources, but every attempt to do so will fail miserably. However, there is a way God has designed for church growth to happen, and we’re about to see what that involves today on Focal Point.

Loving like God and living the Gospel - that’s our Focal Point today! Pastor Mike Fabarez is on the final leg of our journey through a three part series called, “Staying in Step.” It doesn’t take long to realize that we are married to someone who is imperfect. At times their sin is going to hurt us. Rather than grow bitter, get angry, or even leave them, today we’ll be encouraged to love them like God loves us. And we can bring glory to the gospel by being a forgiver. The story of Hosea really encourages us in that direction, so let’s recall that for a moment.

We’re about to connect the dots between the Gospel and our Marriages. Maybe you’ve never really seen the correlation? It’s actually vitally important that we link the two in our hearts and minds. If you’re a Christian, no doubt you want to bring glory to God in every avenue of your life, including your marriage. We’re about to notice how we can bring glory to the most important message God ever gave.
October 28, 2010
Today, we enter part three in our “Staying in Step” series. Most of us have been through a number of series, retreats, and even counseling sessions to help strengthen our marriages. Many times the Gospel of Christ is rarely, if ever mentioned. You might even be wondering at this point, what in the world does the Gospel have to do with your marriage? We’re about to unveil that today on Focal Point. And for the next few broadcasts pastor Mike Fabarez will show us how we can actually bring glory to the Gospel by having a good marriage.
October 27, 2010
When two imperfect, sinful people unite in marriage, we can expect there to be conflict at times. Disputes are going to happen, but what do we do when we hit an impasse? Rather than head into your corner and get ready to duke it out, or worse yet head to divorce court, we can and should apply God’s solutions found in His Word. While many are running to the world for solutions, we’ve got to understand worldly solutions to spiritual problems won’t work. Today Mike will point out how biblical compromise is a real key to marital success.
October 26, 2010
A good number of our marital struggles and problems can be traced back to selfishness and an unwillingness to sacrifice. Maybe it’s a purchase you want to make, your spouse isn’t in favor, and so a fight develops. With that in mind, today’s Focal Point we believe is going to be especially helpful for you and your marriage. Today Pastor Mike Fabarez will show us the real value of biblical compromise.
October 25, 2010
It doesn’t take long for us to realize that our spouse doesn’t do everything the same as we do. Maybe week one of the marriage? That’s actually alright and good. Today on Focal Point, Pastor Mike Fabarez will have us shoot for unity and harmony, rather than fight and divide as so many do when differences pop up. This is just part of our series, “Staying in Step.”
October 22, 2010
Those of you who are married could probably cite quite a few differences you and your spouse have. We all do. But today we want you to think about what you have in common. Pastor Mike says it’s vitally important that we don’t allow anything to separate those commonalities. We’ll take you to a number of Scriptures to emphasize that today on Focal Point.
October 21, 2010
Would you like to have a better marriage? I would hope if you’re married, you’d answer with an emphatic "Yes!" In case you need a little encouragement, pastor Mike Fabarez will have us think for a minute or two about why we should want that. Here on our Wednesday Focal Point, we’re excited to introduce a new series we’ll refer to as, “Staying in Step.” It was recorded at a recent marriage retreat. And as we’ll learn today, a good reason to stay in step is because we should want to bring glory to God.
October 20, 2010
Today marks the end of our five part series called, “How to Get Eternal Life.” Here at the end of our series, we’re considering if it really is worth it to follow Christ and live for Him. Today, Mike will encourage us to care less about this life, and invest more in the next life. It will become apparent why that’s the way to go as the study develops. And you’ll be happy to know, it is well worth it!
October 19, 2010
God by His grace has given many of us eternal life, and today we’re going to spend some time exploring what’s in store for us in heaven! Some of you may have a picture of heaven in your minds that is far from the truth. Will we be floating on a cloud, strumming harps all day? Well not exactly. Once we come to really understand what it’s all about, it will serve to motivate us toward holy and godly living.
