But these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in him you will have life. - John 20:31

God’s logos is God’s Word. In Revelation 19:13, it is used as the title of the Son of God. The Logos was one who did not merely keep company with the Godhead, but was deity himself (see 1 John 1:1)—one in whom all the treasures of divine wisdom were embodied. This logos became flesh and lived among us (see John 1:14). “We saw him with our own eyes and touched him with our own hands . . . the Word of life,” John said (1 John 1:1). His name is Jesus! He is the Word of Life and the light of all people.

The light of the Logos overcame the darkness of a lost world. In fact, Jesus Christ was God’s ultimate Word of light for our lost, dark days. Hebrews 1:1-2 tells us: “Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets. But now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son.” God has nothing more to say to us than he has already said, for he has said, “Jesus”!

So if “Jesus” was the most important thing that God has ever said, why don’t we listen? Why don’t we try to understand what God seeks to communicate to us? If Jesus, God’s best thought, is not worth one of ours, there’s something wrong! God’s Logos came into the cosmos that the world should pay attention to him. The apostle John wrote about these things so that we could “have life” (John 20:31).
