In the first century, many believers were slaves or slave owners. How they conducted themselves in these capacities was vitally important. Our situation is different, but our work habits and relationships are no less significant; half of our waking hours are spent there!

The one thing we need is sometimes the one thing we lack. We need tickets to a sold-out event, a higher test score, or even a hand to help us when we’re drowning. The problem is the one thing we need is the one thing we lack. And often, we need someone else to help us get what we’re lacking. In regards to our salvation, Jesus has the one thing we lack, and He wants to give it to us. We are completely incapable of salvation on our own, but Christ came to provide what we need. Say “yes” to Him, and receive what He has. He’s the only way.

Have you ever tried to use a currency other than the dollar in the United States? It didn’t work, did it? Trying to use a different currency is similar to trying to gain salvation through works, giving, volunteering, or just being a nice person. It won’t work. You can’t gain salvation through your own means. In this message, Pete shares what the Bible says the Kingdom-currency really is. It’s unique, and in complete faith and trust, it’s available to us now.

Silent, but deadly. Sounds like a big deal, right? That’s exactly why Christians make a big deal out of sin—it’s a silent killer. And not only that, but we all have it. So how do we deal with this silent killer? What difference can we make? As Christians, we not only know sin to be deadly, but we know the cure! We know only the grace Jesus offers can counteract sin’s deadly consequence. We are called to both expose the disease and introduce others to its cure.

Modern day disciples, who take seriously their calling to be “the light of the world,” need answers to the questions: “How precisely is this to be done?” and “What will be the result?”

There’s no need to pad your résumé for God! He’s not interested in your personal success stories or accomplishments. His purpose for your life is for you to willingly and actively participate in the divine appointments He sets for you! God regularly orchestrates opportunities for us to cross paths with people whom He wants us to interact with. How we respond determines how the adventure plays out! In this message, Pete Briscoe teaches about Philip’s encounter with the Ethiopian eunuch to help us recognize when God has us on assignment and to consider the best thing that could happen if we accept our next appointment.

When Jesus took his disciples on a retreat into the hills near Galilee, he told them about the blessings, privileges and responsibilities of being members of the “kingdom of the heaven.” What he said is very important to modern day disciples.

About Stuart and Jill Briscoe

Stuart Briscoe uses wit and intellect to target your heart, capture your attention and challenge you to grow! You will find his logic compelling as he brings a fresh, practical perspective to the Scriptures. Born in England, Stuart left a career in banking to enter the ministry full time. He has written more than 50 books, received three honorary doctorates and preached in more than one hundred countries. He was senior pastor of Elmbrook Church in Brookfield, Wisconsin, for thirty years, and currently serves as minister-at-large.

Jill Briscoe was born in England and found Christ when she was 18 years old. She never looked back. Upon graduating from Cambridge University, she began working as a teacher by day and had a vigorous street ministry to the youths of Liverpool by night.

She met Stuart at a youth conference and they married in 1958. In the 50 years since, Jill has become a highly sought-after Bible teacher and author who travels around the world ministering to under-resourced churches and speaking at international seminars and conferences. Since 2000, she and Stuart, who was formerly senior pastor of Elmbrook Church for 30 years, have had the joy of equipping and encouraging believers across the globe in their roles as ministers-at-large for Elmbrook.

Jill has authored more than 40 books including devotionals, study guides, poetry and children's books. Her vivid, relational teaching style touches the emotions and stirs the heart. She serves as Executive Editor of Just Between Us, a magazine of encouragement for ministry wives and women in leadership, and served on the board of World Relief and Christianity Today, Inc., for over 20 years.

Jill and Stuart call suburban Milwaukee, Wisconsin their home. When they are not traveling, they spend time with their three children, David, Judy and Peter, and thirteen grandchildren.
