Your faithfulness extends to every generation, as enduring as the earth you created. Your laws remain true today, for everything serves your plans. - Psalm 119:90-91

God has revealed himself in many ways. For example, he has shown himself to us in nature. For “from the time the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky and all that God made. They can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse whatsoever for not knowing God” (Romans 1:20).

As we were talking to some teenagers on the city streets, one said, “Just show me God and I’ll believe.” The city lay at the gateway to the beautiful English lake district, and I inquired if he ever took a country walk and appreciated the fabulous scenery.

“I know what you’re going to say,” he said. “You’re going to tell me God made all of that! Well, I don’t believe in God! I believe it all just happened!”

Taking my watch off my wrist, I opened the back of it and showed the kids the intricate workings. They were duly impressed. “It just happened,” I said casually. “One day all the little pieces appeared from nowhere and fell into place inside this little gold case. Then it began to move at just the right pace and told the right time!”

“Do you think we’re stupid?” exclaimed one of the boys. “That watch had to have had a maker.”

“Right,” I answered him. “And so did flowers and trees; and so did you and so did I.” He got the point. God’s attributes are displayed in his world. Nature is the servant that shows us the master!
