Trusting

April 5, 2017

When the storms of life come and the waves are crashing violently, do you find it difficult to trust that God is present and working?

Whether or not you can see Him, Jesus is walking on the water in the midst of your storm—and He’s asking you to step out in faith and trust Him.

In this message, Jill Briscoe uses the story of Peter walking on water to teach how you can learn to trust Jesus more passionately and confidently even in the midst of life’s most challenging storms.

Once you become a Christian, what happens next? When Jesus called His disciples, He had one very simple request: “Follow me.” But although the phrase is simple, living it out doesn’t always seem so easy. Jill Briscoe looks at how five disciples came to Christ and started to passionately follow Him. She’ll explain how following Jesus is a way of purpose, fulfillment, and endless adventure. It’s better than any life you could dream up on your own.

If the enemy can't separate you from God, he's content to do the next best thing... distract you with a subtle traps that draw you away from God—and you might not even realize it.  The "morality trap" stops us loving God with all our heart and all our soul. How can you resist and steer clear of the traps set before you? Jill explains and will give you tools from Scripture to help you break free from and avoid the "morality trap." This is the last teaching from Jill Briscoe's 5-message series, Entrapment: Overcoming Temptations Women Face, based on the Book of James.

Have you planned your funeral? Few of us have. We like to think of death as something far off in the future. Then once we do acknowledge death, sometimes we fall into "You Only Live Once" thinking and fill our time with whatever pleases us. But God never promised us a long life! He has our days numbered, and only He knows when that number is up and we'll be called to be with Him. In this message, Jill Briscoe cautions us to avoid the "Minute Trap" and offers us a better perspective on what this life really is and how we should use the time God has given us. This is the 4th teaching from Jill's 5-message series, Entrapment: Overcoming Temptations Women Face, based on the Book of James.

We've all been on both sides of hurtful words. We've insulted and been insulted, gossiped and been gossiped about. We've spoken words that have been obscene, profane, idle, or unkind. It's no wonder the Bible is full of references to the tongue - so much destruction and yet so much encouragement, all from one little member of the body!  In this message, Jill Briscoe gives us an acrostic of "tongue" with examples of the tongue's destructive characteristics, as well as their opposites, so we can avoid the "Mouth Trap." This is the 3rd teaching from Jill's 5-message series, Entrapment: Overcoming Temptations Women Face, based on the Book of James.

We live in a culture that encourages greed. We feel the need to "keep up with the Joneses" and own things that we don't necessarily want or need. We are lured in by the "greed cheese" that Satan puts in the "Money Trap." But everything we have isn't even ours - it all belongs to God, and He entrusts us with what He knows we can handle.  In this message, Jill Briscoe teaches about the role money should play in our lives and gives us practical and challenging advice on how we should view and be good stewards of money. This is the 2nd teaching from Jill's 5-message series, Entrapment: Overcoming Temptations Women Face, based on the Book of James.

When little troubles appear in our lives, we can be surprised and wonder why God would allow such things to happen to us. Such thinking reveals that we may have fallen into the "Me Trap": Satan tempts us with "easy cheese" promising an easy life. But God never promised that life would be comfortable!  In this message, Jill Briscoe shows us how the troubles and pain in our lives are actually a way God molds us into Christ-like people. This is the 1st teaching from Jill's 5-message series, Entrapment: Overcoming Temptations Women Face, based on the Book of James.

How do you survive hard times and even flourish in your relationship with God? Jill teaches about how our relationship with the Lord can be strengthened because of - and during - hard times. 1 Corinthians 3:1-9 and 2 Corinthians 12:7

When we're suffering the consequences of our own poor choices; when we're bearing the brunt of someone's vengeance and anger; when we feel absolutely on our own and life is not working out as planned, that's when God will turn up. He wants to walk down the stairway of heaven right into our hearts to make us aware of His personal interest and concern.  We learn in Scripture how God wrestled Jacob to the ground one night and turned him upside down - so he could live right-side up. Jacob became a "prince" with God instead of a pain. This message by Jill Briscoe is taken from Genesis 28:10 & 32:22-31.

In Bible times, when a person had leprosy, they would use rags to cover their open sores because they were very contagious. In the book of Isaiah, it says that all of our righteous acts are like filthy rags - like the unclean rags used by people with leprosy. So if our good acts can never be righteous to God, then how can we live in Heaven? In this message, Jill teaches about our Jehovah Sidqenu, which means "Jesus is my righteousness." She lets us know how we can be righteous in God's eyes.  This is the 8th and final message in Jill's 8-message series "The Names of God."  Jeremiah 23:5-6; Job 31:6; Psalm 62:9; Daniel 5; Luke 15
