Eve—How to Find Your Identity

Women throughout all of history have been trying to find their identities—through marriage, children, a career. But we can find our true identity and fulfillment only in our relationship with God. Eve had a unique opportunity to be with God in the Garden of Eden, and God revealed His intended work for her, what He designed her to do. But Eve's identity was challenged in the Fall when Satan deceived Eve into trying to find her identity outside of the God in whose image she was made. We, too, were created in God's image and were designed for the work He has for us.
In this message, Jill walks us through Eve's story and teaches us how it is also our story—how our own identities may be obscured in the Fall but are renewed in Christ's redemptive work.

God is always there.”

Those of us who played organized sports in school may remember a time when the race or game was not going well, and we just wanted to give up. For many of us, it was the shouts from the sidelines that kept us going. We could hear the coach shouting, “Keep going—you can do it!”
In the same way the coach keeps the team going, Christ keeps us going and guides us home. We just have to learn to turn everything in our lives over to Him. In this message, Jill explains how we can learn to let God “coach” us and find contentment in every circumstance.

What people come to mind when thinking of those who have a servant attitude? Missionaries? Pastors? Yourself? Do you think that having a humble attitude is important? The apostle Paul had a servant heart and attitude. He continually gave himself away to benefit those around him. As a result, he was able to bring many people to Christ.

What do you do when you are suffering through a hard time? Many of us sulk, complain, and feel sorry for ourselves. Others put on a strong face, but when they are alone, the fear and sadness take over, and they break down. Much of the apostle Paul’s life was spent suffering—most of the time in jail. But unlike many of us, Paul was joyful no matter what his circumstance.
This “spiritual art” of contentment was something Paul learned—and it wasn’t easy. In this message, Jill uses Paul’s life as an example of how we can learn contentment, joy, and peace of mind no matter what we are going through.

Sometimes we think that if we could only get what we want, we would finally be happy. Solomon thought that, too. He had a “getting” obsession, never denying himself anything he wanted, and he became “greater by far than anyone in Jerusalem before [him].”
But all these things didn’t bring Solomon the happiness he was looking for. Solomon and you and I are all trying to soothe a heart ache that can’t be cured by “things” but only by finding our purpose, the reason we were made!

What is God using to chisel you into the image of Christ? Will you lie still in His hand and let Him do it?
For Jeremiah, God was using his ministry partner, Baruch, to chisel and hammer him into shape. Jeremiah, too, was chiseling Baruch. Without the encouragement of the other, neither would have had faith enough to finish when their ministry got difficult.

Do you ever find yourself running away from God's plans because you feel inadequate? Jeremiah felt inadequate when God called him to be a prophet. But God spoke a promise to Jeremiah saying, "My plan will be in your life, My work will be in your hand, and My words will be in your mouth."
