Dr. Leaf believes that science is not antagonistic to spirituality. Science is a way of understanding existence and the eternal nature of love. Since she believes God is love, her spirituality is the guiding principle of her life, just as God’s love is the guiding principle that upholds the universe.
Dr. Leaf strives to maintain a lifestyle focusing on loving God, herself, her neighbors and the world she is in. She believes that every human being is created in the image of a loving God, and that no one should be excluded on the bounds of race, religion, gender, sexuality, capability, culture or nationality.
Dr. Leaf believes that changing the mind can change the world. Following the example of Jesus and renewing the way we think can change the way we speak and act, allowing us to reflect God’s glory into the world and bring heaven to earth. Repentance, after all, means to change one’s mind.
In the words of the leading biblical scholar N.T. Wright, the apostle Paul’s worldview "will only function if it is held together by humans with transformed minds, and who use those transformed minds constantly to wrestle with the biggest questions of all, those of God and the world. It is almost as though the entire system is designed to challenge humans to grow up in their understanding." What we think has the power to bring life or death into the world, so we need to choose what we let into our headwisely, taking every thought captive.
Dr. Caroline Leaf is a communication pathologist and cognitive neuroscientist. Since the early 1980s, she has researched the mind-brain connection, the nature of mental health, and the formation of memory. She was one of the first in her field to study how the brain can change (neuroplasticity). Her passion is to help people see how the power of the mind can change the brain and how the link between science and spirituality can help them control their thoughts and emotions, learn how to think and learn, and find their sense of purpose in life. She is the author of Switch On Your Brain, Think and Eat Yourself Smart, The Perfect You, and Think,Learn, Succeed, among many other books and journal articles, and her videos, podcasts, and TV episodes have reached millions globally. She currently teaches at academic, medical, and neuroscience conferences; churches; and to various audiences around the world. Dr. Leaf and her husband, Mac, live with their four children in Dallas and Los Angeles.
