When Will Christ Return - Episode 3

April 3, 2019

If you’ve ever heard of the silence before the storm, you’ll understand what Paul the apostle meant when he said there is coming a time when the world will be rejoicing in a new era of “Peace and Safety.”  This is a sure sign that there is sudden destruction that will come upon them like a thief in the night. But for the Christian, Pastor Jeff tells us, we don’t have to be concerned about that day because we have a much better day coming when Christ returns for His church. With our final installment of the study titled, “When Will Christ Return,” we invite you to join us in 1 Thes

It’s been said that a watched pot never boils. But when it comes to the return of Jesus Christ, Jesus Himself tells us to watch, in order to be ready. So the question is, how ready are you? Do you expect His return soon, or do you tend to put it off, like an ill-fated To Do list. You know you have to face it, but you try to put it off as much as possible? Pastor Jeff Johnson shares Jesus’ own words as a bridge to 1 Thessalonians. He exhorts us to be ready in these days prior to coming back for His church. So with more on that, join us for the second installment of our study titled, “When Will Christ Return?” in 1 Thessalonians 5 for our encouragement in Sound Doctrine with Pastor Jeff Johnson.

The Bible refers to the return of Jesus Christ for His church as the Great Hope. It’s a hope that is kept alive by maintaining communication with Jesus and being aware of the times that we live in. And the more we see the winds of change in our world, the more we will be looking up, anticipating His soon return. Pastor Jeff helps us to consider the question of the rapture in our study titled, “When Will Christ Return?”. We invite you to join us for the next few moments as we turn to 1 Thessalonians 5 for our encouraging time in Sound Doctrine with Pastor Jeff Johnson.

Actions speak louder than words. When it comes to being a Christian, Jesus said, You will know them by their fruits. And if you get serious about walking with Jesus Christ, you can look forward to all that God promises to those who call Him Father. As we continue to look forward to the rapture of the church of Jesus Christ, Pastor Jeff Johnson reminds us that we have the incredible hope of His soon return and our being united with Him forever. The question he asks today is: Do you have that hope of heaven with Jesus forever, or have you been putting off what God is inviting you to do today? With more on that, let’s join P

Are you aware of the picture of what events will be taking place in the Last Days? Lake of fire, second death, and not sorrowing as those who have no hope. All of these are topics that we are studying to understand the picture of the Last Days before and after Jesus comes to rapture His church. Pastor Jeff Johnson is showing us how Paul the apostle is encouraging us not to be ignorant of the picture in the times that we are living in right now. So with Bible and note pad, we encourage you to follow along as we look at The Comings of the Lord for our time in Sound Doctrine in 1 Thessalonians 4.

There are a few areas in the Bible where we are told not to be ignorant. Such is the case in our portion of 1 Thessalonians 4. Paul the apostle passionately wanted the believers to know about the rapture of the church. And Pastor Jeff teaches that the more we know about the rapture of the church, the more we will be in tune to the times we are living in. That will, in turn cause us to be anticipating Jesus’ coming for His bride. As you listen to the message today, may God help to stir you up as you see the times that we are living in today. With that in mind, let’s open to 1 Thessalonians 4 in our study titled, “The Comings of the Lord” for our time in Sound Doctrine.

There has always been a balance in the Christian life between doing all that we can to be responsible and earn a living vs. trusting in God’s provision for ourselves and our families. But what happens when there is an unhealthy imbalance? When slothfulness is masqueraded as trusting in the Lord, not only does it affect the person with that mindset, it affects their family and the church as well. That’s why Paul the apostle addressed the issue of diligence in work. He elevated the dignity of labor in a culture that enforced other people to work for them. It is with that in mind that we look at our study titled, “Loving One Another By Being a Witness” in 1 Thessalonians 4 for our time in Sound Doctrine.

When we realize that God is the One who ultimately provides for our families, it is then that we begin to rest, even in the most challenging of circumstances. Pastor Jeff Johnson reminds us that God allows these trials so that He can show His provision and His faithfulness to us. The end result is that we grow in trust, God is glorified, and others begin to see God’s faithfulness and trust in the Lord themselves. The title of our study is “Loving One Another By Being a Good Witness”. So join us for the next few moments in 1 Thessalonians 4 as we spend time in growing in Sound Doctrine.

On today’s edition of Sound Doctrine Pastor Jeff continues to show us three areas of our sexual lives that God wants to bless: their holiness, harmony, and honesty. As we learn that God’s ways are best for us, His Word will give us the direction to discover joy will in pursuing Him in an area that has taken many people down. Pastor Jeff tells us that the Lord has called us to holiness from the bondage that prevails in this world. And we need to guard our hearts and our kids’ hearts from a world that creates any kind of sexual desire on demand. With our study titled, “What About Sex,” let’s join Pastor Jeff in 1 Thessalonians 4 for our time in Sound Doctrine.

When it comes to sexual attraction, sensuality, and the physical qualities of attraction, where do you take your cues from, the world or the Word? Even believers have tragically been ensnared by the allure of the world, pornography, and Hollywood. Pastor Jeff Johnson strongly cautions us to take extra care that we not only guard our actions, but our internal attitudes from sources that would stimulate our hearts away from God’s best will for us. As we continue to learn how to manage our desires before the Lord, we will discover God’s best for our lives. With more on that, let’s join Pastor Jeff in 1Thessalonians 4 for our time in Sound Doctrine.

Used as a metaphor in the Bible, your walk shows what direction you’re heading and how fast you’re getting there. There are many who walk alone. Many who walk fast or slow. But to the person who walks with God, they have a quality and a quantity of life in Christ that is separate from the world. Such is the case with sex and the Christian. Pastor Jeff Johnson shares that this is an area that should be characterized by holiness and harmony with God’s will so that it brings glory to God and fulfillment to His people. With more on that, join us in 1 Thessalonians 4 as we look at the study titled, “What About Sex?” in Sound Doctrine.
