The Christian in Crisis Part 2

September 21, 2020

It seems like everyone has an opinion or thoughts about what’s going on right now in the present day crisis.  And they’re quick to share it virtually every day on social media.  But what is God’s Word to us in a crisis?  That’s really what we need to hone in on, and we will today on Sound Doctrine as pastor Jeff Johnson heads back to Acts twenty-seven.

Who would have thought when we turned the calendar into 2020 that we’d be faced with such a wild storm!  Many today feel as though all hope is lost and the suicide rate reflects that.  Today on Sound Doctrine we bring you a timely message from Acts 27.  The apostle Paul is in a severe storm in this chapter of his life, and desperation and fear could be seen on their faces.  Join pastor Jeff Johnson and see what we can learn from it to help us through the present-day crisis.

Some feel hopeless today, having no expectation of things ever getting better!  You could say, they’re not optimistic, they’re despairing and feel alone in their hopelessness. Today on Sound Doctrine we visit Acts twenty-seven and hear of a situation so bad that even the apostle Paul himself was afraid.  Paul is in rough seas, looking for safe harbor.  There are some great life lessons we can draw from this voyage.

Someone has observed, “The world is a book and those who do not travel have read only one page.” Some travel for enjoyment, others for business and others still to advance the gospel. Paul was in that third category, and could write a book on it!  Today we’ll hear of Paul’s travels in Acts twenty-seven. We’ll be inspired by the great cost along with risk that’s involved in traveling to advance the gospel.

Maybe you’ve noticed as you’ve shared the gospel, not everyone reacts the same way.  Yes there are those that embrace the message, but some get angry, others defensive, and some even get really close and are almost persuaded.  Today on Sound Doctrine we’ll take notice of these different reactions, and how we should respond to them. We’re finishing up our series, “Being a Witness.”

There are two kinds of people in this world… those who believe and are saved and those who don’t believe and are not saved.  But in that category of the unsaved is a range of people, from those who could care less to those who are almost saved. We’ll meet someone who was almost a Christian today on Sound Doctrine, as we dig deeper into Acts 26.  But almost isn’t enough.

Pastor Jeff Johnson will continue our series called, “Being a Witness.”  It’s part of a study in Acts.  The Lord used the apostle Paul as a witness to King Agrippa, and all that were listening, in chapter 26.  But the cool thing is, the Lord wants to use us to be His witness wherever we may be!  We’re getting equipped to do that here today.

Acts chapter twenty-six records the apostle Paul’s testimony.  He was called, saved and sent!  Pastor Jeff believes the Lord wants to do the same in and through our lives.  We’re in part three of his series, “Being a Witness!”

The gift of salvation is not only meant to be received, but shared with others!  In other words we’re tell others about it!  Today on Sound Doctrine pastor Jeff Johnson continues his study of the book of Acts. In chapter twenty-six we see Paul offering an eloquent defense of his faith in Jesus Christ. And the Lord wants to use each of His children as a witness and minister as we are about to discover.

Maybe you’ve noticed as we’ve studied Acts together on Sound Doctrine, a recurring theme is Being a Witness!  That topic rises to the surface again, as we open chapter twenty-six with pastor Jeff Johnson.  As Paul continues his testimony, we’ll take notice of how he witnessed to those around him.  It’ll serve to help us be a greater witness in our day.

We’re in a series called, “Being a Witness,” and really that’s the encouragement in front of us today.  How to be a witness.  As we notice how the apostle Paul was a witness, we’ll be encouraged to apply these same principles to our daily lives.  Whether it’s on the job, at home or in our neighborhood!
