The popular song by MercyMe called, “Dear Younger Me,” stirs the imagine to wonder what advice we’d give our younger selves knowing what we know now. Today on Sound Doctrine Pastor Jeff Johnson takes up the same call from Proverbs reminding us of the consequences when we don’t listen to warnings. He then reminds us how Jesus is able to redeem bad choices in the here and now and then ultimately deliver us to a heavenly home.  How powerful a reminder to share with friends and family who don’t know Jesus as their Lord. Have you ever heard the phrase, “Been there, done that”? Of course we have. It explains how we have already checked off something from a tiresome list of things to do; a one-off kind of contact, if you will. But what happens when that “tried it and moved on” mindset is adopted by God’s people? And what should our response be to this mindset? Today on Sound Doctrine Pastor Jeff Johnson goes to explain why this is a dangerous mindset for the Christian and then helps us to have a Biblical response from Proverbs 27. It’s taken from the study titled, “Relationship” for today’s installment of Sound Doctrine.

Correction given in love is far better than flattering expressions of adoration. Many people don’t like to go to church because they don’t want to be convicted or convinced of their sin. But like David being corrected by Nathan over his sins, God does so because He seeks our restoration and health. Today on Sound Doctrine Pastor Jeff reminds us that those supposed friends who are quick to show expressions of affection will also be quick to let us fall when a real friendship is needed. It’s our last study titled, “Thoughts on How to Live”, so let’s join Pastor Jeff in Proverbs 27 for today’s installment of Sound Doctrine.

In all our business models of what it means to be professional in our conduct or politically correct in how we relate to one another, is it possible that we have missed out on opportunities to reach out with the love of God because we are afraid of what others will say of us and to us? Pastor Jeff Johnson gives Biblical, candid, and direct answers for the need to reach out and deal with confrontation when needed. While no one enjoys confronting others, no one should relish the opportunity for the sake of confronting someone. Pastor Jeff helps us to see God’s wisdom in showing genuine love by knowing how and when to intervene with correction. That’s part of our study titled, “Thoughts on How to Live” in Proverbs 27.

A lot can happen in one day. Every day 365,000 new births take place. Approximately 18 million people will celebrate their birthday. There will be 6.8 million lightning strikes. Every tree will provide enough oxygen for 2/3 of the earth’s population. Your heart will beat 104,000 times. It’s true that a lot can happen in one day. That’s why today on Sound Doctrine Pastor Jeff Johnson is reminding us of the importance that God wants us to take each day with. We have no idea what each day holds for us and we are called to make the most of every opportunity. So with that in mind, let’s join Pastor Jeff in our first installment in Proverbs titled, “Thoughts on How to Live.”

Have you ever noticed how we have great technology to warn us of many things that pose a danger to us? We have metal detectors in airports. We have biological hazard detectors. But nowhere in the world is there technology to protect us from what the Bible calls foolishness. Today on Sound Doctrine Pastor Jeff mentions that foolish behavior is still widely practiced today, all the while giving us warning signs and how to avoid it. It’s all part of a study titled, “I Pity the Fool”. That’s right, “I Pity the Fool” in Proverbs 26 for today’s edition of Sound Doctrine.
