I probably don’t have to convince you this world is messed up and upside down due to sin.  We’re reminded of that virtually every time we turn on the news.  What can turn things around you may be wondering?  Today on Sound Doctrine that’s answered for us as we visit Acts seventeen.  As Christ is preached and truth is proclaimed amazing things can happen.

Today we’ll resume our study in Acts with a look at chapter seventeen, and how the ministry of Paul and Barnabas and friends was turning the world upside down! Or I should say turning it right side up! This message of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ was controversial to say the least, but God was saving a lot of souls!  We'll see today how we too can be a witness, in this generation.

Whether it’s the loss of a job, an illness, or you’re isolated at home, we’re going to suffer in this life.  But how are you going to handle it? Pastor Jeff encourages us to pray, sing and submit yourself to the Lord at such times, just as Paul and Silas did in the passage before us.

The Covid 19 Pandemic has brought unprecedented challenges for people and our society.  But how we choose to respond to it all as a Christian is key.  Today on Sound Doctrine we’ll learn that it’s time to sing, pray and give it to the Lord.  That’s the sort of reaction Paul and Silas had to their deep, dark, painful trial.

How have you been responding to this whole Covid 19 situation?  Do you find yourself bummed out and complaining more often than not?   Today, we’ll observe Paul and Silas in a prison cell in Acts sixteen. And they have a most unusual response, one that we should have in suffering.

Pastor Jeff Johnson will focus on Acts 16 verse 25.  Paul and Silas are in a dungeon… the circumstances couldn’t be more miserable… and yet they’re singing praise to God and praying!  Pastor Jeff believes that speaks volumes to us on how to maintain our joy, and praise God even when our circumstances are dark, confusing or unfair!

You might find it easy to praise the Lord in church on Sunday when all is well, but what about in a jail cell or in a Pandemic?  We find Paul and Silas in prison, in Acts sixteen.  While we might expect them to be moaning and groaning about the circumstances they find themselves in, they were actually praying and singing hymns to God!  Today on Sound Doctrine pastor Jeff Johnson explains how we too can go from suffering to a song.

One of the great things about the Bible is we can learn from the painful experiences of Christians from long ago, and apply it to what we’re facing now.  Today on Sound Doctrine pastor Jeff Johnson recalls a time when Paul and Silas were attacked, beaten and thrown in jail for no good reason.  But through it all God was with them and working!  The same holds true for us today, in the middle of a Pandemic.

Have you ever encountered someone that you believe was demon possessed?  It’s enough to make your skin crawl!  But as we’ll see today on Sound Doctrine, God has the power and ability to deliver them.  He did it for a young girl that we read about in Acts chapter sixteen, and He can do it today.

As we continue our study in Acts we run across a couple of women who couldn’t be more different.  We met Lydia last time, and saw how the Lord saved her.  But now today we encounter a woman that is demon possessed.  Does this sort of thing still happen today?  More than we may realize, but God has the power to deliver!
