It’s been said that the personality of the spiritual leader influences others because it is penetrated, saturated, and empowered by the Holy Spirit. Whether or not we know it, God is reaching others through your life. And in our time in Sound Doctrine Pastor Jeff is revealing Paul’s example of being bold in our God to speak to others the Gospel of God. As we consider the deliverance that Jesus offers from the false gods of this world, we also experience the deliverance from the highs and lows as complete surrender comes to Him. The word idolatry isn’t something that is used alot in our culture today; that is, in a negative sense. We have TV shows whose names include it. But when it comes to pursuing an idol, that thought is relegated to ancient history. However, in today’s edition of Sound Doctrine, Pastor Jeff Johnson says idolatry still exists today. And when people come to Christ today, there is still a conscientious turning to God from idols just as it was back then. When it comes to the characteristics of healthy Christianity, the church in Thessalonica was a great example. Faith, hope, and love were evident in the fellowship as well as a desire to see God’s Word proclaimed throughout the world. The highway to heaven is paved with many trials. However, as modern Christians enter into trials today they conclude that it must not be God’s will for them to experience suffering or challenges. That theology of trials doesn’t fit in with modern cultural Christianity. Yet Pastor Jeff says that we don’t want to avoid the refining that awaits us as we look to the Lord during those invaluable times. Because many times we learn there truths and lessons we would learn nowhere else. When it comes to living out the Gospel and sharing it, there will be many obstacles that will come along our paths to dissuade or discourage us. The Bible tells us that we are to endure hardships as good soldiers of Jesus Christ.
