Rally the People

Then I said to the nobles, the rulers, and the rest of the people, “The work is great and extensive, and we are separated far from one another on the wall. Wherever you hear the sound of the trumpet, rally to us there. Our God will fight for us.”- >Nehemiah 4:19-20

Nehemiah was a good captain; he was a godly man who followed the Lord. He was able to see the gaps in the wall that had made them vulnerable to the enemy. So, he gathered the people closer and tightened the ranks to make sure all the openings were filled. God continued to instruct Nehemiah in the work. He encouraged and impressed upon the people not to look to him, but to look to God. The Lord was the One who would fight their battles. He leads, guides, protects, provides and keeps their souls––it was all God––God––God!

A spiritual leader can always see the gaps where people are separated in the work of God. The leader must know how to strategize to fill those holes in the ministry, that way God’s work can be completed. It is always the leader’s responsibility to gather the team and keep them together.

When the people heard the sound of the trumpet in the city it could declare to them a feast, a time of praise, to gather them together or warn them of their enemies approaching. So when the watchman on the wall sounded the trumpet, it would rally the people to rush over to where they needed to be. Then they were able to be in a position of readiness because they had the time to prepare and get ready for battle.

As a leader it is good to be in the trenches with the people as you work alongside them fighting the battle. How are your leadership skills?

A leader has been defined as one who knows the way,
goes the way and shows the way.
