Families that Fight the Enemy!

Therefore I positioned men behind the lower parts of the wall, at the openings; and I set the people according to their families, with their swords, their spears, and their bows. - >Nehemiah 4:12-13

Nehemiah was the kind of leader who knew how to encourage the people. He went into action and strategically placed the families in positions to defend the wall as they continued to build. Interesting––everybody lined up together side by side, husbands and wives, with their families with their weapons in their hands.

When we have identified Satan’s strategies against us then we have to defend ourselves against our enemy.  God did not leave us to fight empty handed. Christians have been given a full  set of armor to stand and fight against the enemy. Ephesians 6:11 instructs us to: Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

It is very important to understand that we do not fight in carnality––with our flesh; we must fight with weapons of the Spirit. Why? Our battle is a spiritual battle and the Lord has provided us with spiritual weapons:

Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,  and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;  above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this endwith all perseverance and supplication for all the saints - (Ephesians 6:14-18).

As a family do you read God’s Word and pray together? If you do, you will defeat the enemy together.

The Christian needs his sword as well as his trowel.
