Chosen by God

…And Samuel said to Jesse, “Send and bring him. For we will not sit down till he comes here.” So he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, with bright eyes, and good-looking. And the Lord said, “Arise, anoint him; for this is the one!” Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel arose and went to Ramah.
1 Samuel 16:11-13

Jesse brought in young David, with his red hair, bright eyes and ruddy looking appearance, before the prophet Samuel. The moment he walked in, the Lord said in the ear of Samuel–– that is My boy––that is him––arise and anoint him.

We need to understand how God chooses and anoints people to serve Him. God shows to me the different people who God has chosen to serve alongside me in the ministry. I know these people are not chosen because of their education or for any other reason. It is not man’s choosing but the Lord who has chosen them.

As a Christian, do you know God has chosen you? The Apostle Paul explains our position in Christ as believers:

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved (Ephesians 1:3-6).

Reread these Scriptures. In a journal write what impacted you the most.

The Christian's place in heaven was assured before there was a single angel there to help in arranging his accommodation.
