Wait for God’s Surety

So both of them showed themselves to the garrison of the Philistines. And the Philistines said, “Look, the Hebrews are coming out of the holes where they have hidden.” Then the men of the garrison called to Jonathan and his armorbearer, and said, “Come up to us, and we will show you something.”
1 Samuel 14:11-12

Once Jonathan and his armorbearer situated themselves to be seen by their Philistine enemies, they waited to hear their response. At first, the Philistines had mistakenly thought these two men had deserted from Saul’s army. They believed they were among the many men in Israel who were fearful––those who had hidden themselves in the crevices in the mountains.

Then the Philistines called out to Jonathan and his armorbearer:“Come up to us, and we will show you something.”Excited, and knowing God was with them to give them the victory, immediately, the two Israeli warriors started running up the pass––straight up! There was no possible way they could climb such a high precipice unless God strengthened them. He was going to do an amazing work through them.

When God places a call on your life to go into the mission field, or opens the doors for you to be involved in a ministry in the church, it is very exciting. Understand, in these places you are on the front lines, and you will face many spiritual battles. However, God will do a tremendous work when you step out by faith. He will strengthen you and allow you to see His miraculous work as He uses your life to touch other people’s lives. They will be impacted by the Gospel of Jesus Christ––awesome!

Each of us has a call to do something for the Lord. What has God spoken to your heart about?

The power to proclaim the greatest news in heaven or on earth was not given to angels. It was given to redeemed men … Every Christian is to be a witness; every follower of Christ is to preach the Gospel.
