Do All That Is In Your Heart

Then Jonathan said to the young man who bore his armor, “Come, let us go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised; it may be that the Lord will work for us. For nothing restrains the Lord from saving by many or by few.” So his armorbearer said to him, “Do all that is in your heart. Go then; here I am with you, according to your heart.”
1 Samuel 14:6-7

I like Jonathan’s confidence in his God. His words confirm how he knew his God’s power to save:  “For nothing restrains the Lord from saving by many or by few.”  Jonathan knew the Lord would fight the battle for them. The armorbearer believed Jonathan was anointed by the Lord and agreed to take a giant step of faith with him. The armorbearer said to Jonathan, “Do all that is in your heart; if God has said it–– let’s do it!”

Jonathan’s armorbearer had great confidence in the King’s son; he knew he loved the Lord. The young armorbearer would follow Jonathan into battle against the Philistines with great loyalty. He would remain right behind him. Jonathan and his armorbearer were in unity; they were like- minded men––I love it!

As Christians, we cannot use carnal, worldly means to defeat the enemy. Remember, we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age… (Ephesians 6:12). Anything we attempt to use against our enemy is nothing compared to what God can do! The battle is the Lord’s!

What is in your heart to do for the Lord? Do you have like-minded men to accomplish the task with you? I know loyal men in my life who are like- minded. They would go with me anywhere, and I would go anywhere with them––that is the ministry.

“Give me one hundred preachers who fear nothing but sin, and desire nothing but God, and I care not a straw whether they be clergymen or laymen; such alone will shake the gates of hell and set up the kingdom of heaven on earth.”
