Walking Wisely

Now Saul was afraid of David, because the Lord was with him, but had departed from Saul. Therefore Saul removed him from his presence, and made him his captain over a thousand; and he went out and came in before the people. And David behaved wisely in all his ways, and the Lord was with him. Therefore, when Saul saw that he behaved very wisely, he was afraid of him.  But all Israel and Judah loved David, because he went out and came in before them.
1 Samuel 18:12-16

Within these verses of Scripture, we find the real reason Saul was worried about David––the Lord was with him. If only Saul would have let go of his position and poured himself into the life of David, there would have been peace. It was obvious that God was no longer with Saul, but He was with David, and the people knew it. They saw the Lord was with David as he went out to war and returned victorious.  Saul had become more isolated, and he had separated himself from David who walked very wisely––carefully. David was continuously with the people, and they loved him.

When working with other people, do you recognize God’s anointing in their lives?  If required, are you able to step back and let the Lord use them instead of you without getting jealous? Anyone of us can succumb to the sin of jealousy––be careful. We have to have the heart of God.

Perhaps you are working with someone who is discouraged and disappointed because God has demoted them. Love that person.  We should never kick anyone when they are down. Instead, we must attempt to restore them and bring peace to the situation. The Apostle Paul tells us this can be accomplished through the work of the Holy Spirit: Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted (Galatians 6:1).

I beg you, dear friends… pray for the fallen, look lovingly and pitifully upon the fallen, seek to guide the fallen back to Christ; and who knows how many of them you may be helped to restore?
