A Rebellious State

“Nevertheless they were disobedient and rebelled against You, cast Your law behind their backs and killed Your prophets, who testified against them to turn them to Yourself; and they worked great provocations.” - Nehemiah 9:26

Wow! Once again the past generation was fully described. Even though God kept His Word to them and brought them into the Promised Land, they rebelled against Him. They did not even respect the anointing of God’s prophets. They refused to listen to them, and, instead killed them! They willfully rejected God, and their behavior caused God’s judgment to come upon them.

It is amazing to me how many times in the past, in the present and looking into the future, there will be people who will be just like the children of Israel. They will begin to forget God’s power, goodness and everything He has done in their lives. They come to the point of rebelling against him and have to suffer the consequences of their bad choices.

In the hippie movement, we saw the love and the power of God. The people enjoyed the simplicity of a life of God’s love––love––love! Christians really loved one another and trusted one another. Now churches have become a place of backbiting, fighting and even hatred. The people murmur and complain. When there is no harmony or unity, Satan causes confusion and division. Yet, we are the Church of Jesus Christ! It is incredible how far down we have gone.

Paul warned believers that people will become apostates (2 Timothy 4:1-4). They will try to destroy the work of God, as they do not truly fear Him. There will be people who become coldhearted betrayers, who will even come against those of their own families (2 Timothy 3:1-4). Yet, God is on the throne.

“ ‘A man’s enemies will be those of is own household.’ ”
~Matthew 10:36~
