Your Sin Will Find You Out

And the woman conceived; so she sent and told David, and said, “I am with child.” -  2 Samuel 11:5

David is now presented with a big problem. Bathsheba had become pregnant with his child. What should he do? It would have been good to repent and ask for God’s mercy. For God is merciful. David would later write: For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, and abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You (Psalm 86:5).

However, David decided to try another way to cover up his sin but Numbers 32:23 reminds us we cannot get away with anything: you have sinned against the Lord; and be sure your sin will find you out. David knew God intimately but sin had separated him from his God and He stopped speaking with him. The Lord would hold him responsible for his sin.

It is important to learn from the mistakes David made in his life.  If you try to hide your sin God will expose your sin: For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known (Luke 12:2). Our sins will separate us from God fully and completely:but your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you ... (Isaiah 59:2).As we listen to God’s Word in church, God holds us all accountable for what we are taught; too much is given much more is required (Luke 12:48).

Are you caught in a moral sin today? Do not try to cover up your sin, repent and call on the Lord for mercy! God holds you accountable.

You and your sins must separate, or you and God cannot come together.
