Mercy From God

“But My mercy shall not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I removed from before you. And your house and your kingdom shall be established forever before you. Your throne shall be established forever.”’” - 2 Samuel 7:15-16

It is so amazing to think about the mercy of God. In this verse, the Hebrew word is checed and it is defined as “goodness, kindness, faithfulness.” God promised David His goodness and kindness would forever be poured out upon the generations to come. God would not remove His faithfulness from the house of David, ever. What an incredible promise.

In the New Testament, the Apostles often used three words in their greetings: grace, mercy and peace. Even more, they were always from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord, because we will only find peace through the grace and mercy of our Lord.

I think Christians do not always understand or truly appreciate the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ. Without it, we would be without hope—without peace. Look at what happened to Saul when God took His mercy from Saul. He had no peace or hope. He was tormented by a deceiving spirit. God no longer provided guidance for his life.

That is where each one of us would be without the grace, mercy and peace of the Lord. We would have no peace in this world and no hope for eternity. Think about it. That is the life of the non-believer. They have no peace in their lives, because they do not have the grace and mercy of God. Take the time to share the hope of salvation with someone today.

Christ is the mine of mercy and the gold-ore of grace and salvation.
