The Light Has Shined

“Nevertheless the gloom will not be upon her who is distressed, as when at first He lightly esteemed the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward more heavily oppressed her, by the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, In Galilee of the Gentiles. The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shined.”
Isaiah 9:1-2

Isaiah 9:1-2, described a future time when the nation of Israel would come out of gloom and darkness into a beautiful light. These incredible verses point to Jesus Christ, the Messiah, the King of kings and Lord of lords (1 Timothy 6:15). The nation of Israel would come out of darkness into the greatest light of the knowledge of salvation.

Even though God judged Zebulun and Naphtali; yet, these are the regions where Jesus Christ went to preach the Gospel of light––to the darkest places.  Jesus Christ would be born and later would begin ministry in Galilee. The people around the Sea of Galilee would see a great light. Who was that great light? Jesus Christ! The people there would come out of darkness because He would take to them the Gospel of salvation.

God in His mercy and grace has called us out of the darkness:

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light (I Peter 2:9).

If you are a person in distress who does not know Christ, do not remain in gloom, walking in the darkness of your sin, and living in the constant fear of death’s shadow. Come to the Light!

For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
~2 Corinthians 4:6~
