For centuries, the sins of Israel were covered temporarily by blood sacrifices in the temple at Jerusalem. This was a picture of a future sacrifice, one that would take away sin forever. That sacrifice was that of Jesus on the cross. Thanks to Him, believers have a certificate of acquittal from the guilt they should rightfully bear. Today, the high price of that acquittal is made clear.
