The last book of the New Testament is Revelation. Early in this book, Jesus dictates letters to seven local churches. One of them was in Ephesus, a city of ruins in modern-day Turkey. Paul brought the gospel here, and found himself in hot water when his message threatened the supremacy of the local pagan deity named Artemis.
