When Jesus said "It is finished," He was proclaiming victory from a place of apparent defeat, dying on a Roman cross. He paid the penalty for the sin of mankind, and we who believe can stand before God forgiven, our debt cancelled, thanks to Him. Redemption began in the mind of God. It found its completion on a hill outside Jerusalem.
