The Battle for Your Heart, Part 1 of 3 (Guard Your Heart)

September 5, 2016

It’s been said that America will fall, not by the guns of its enemies, but by the moral rot of its citizens. The more we’re “online,” the more we see perversity and immorality. Here is a call to engage those who use the internet and other forms of media which enslave us.

The Eclipse Of God
Just as the moon obscures the sun’s light during an eclipse, today’s radical secularism has obscured the light of God. But God’s light still shines—and He is calling us to shine His light in our growing darkness. Is God more tolerant than He used to be? Pastor Lutzer shows how God is both a God of wrath as well as grace; that He is both merciful and just, and both a redeemer and a judge. Deepen your love for our unchangeable God of the Bible and be empowered to proclaim the light of truth in a culture of darkness. The Bible tells of a future Antichrist who deceives the world into worshipping him. Those living at this time will face almost certain death unless they comply. Even now, believers face execution in many parts of the world. Could your faith survive in the face of oppression like this?

ISIS and others are murdering Christians all over the world. Like in ancient Rome, there is a war to destroy the faith of believers in Christ, and this war is coming to our shores. Let’s consider this and ask, “What would it take for us to deny our faith?”

How should believers live in a world on the edge of calamity? James told us how in his epistle: “Be patient, for the Lord is coming.” Let’s learn some final thoughts on getting ready for whatever comes.

To trust in riches is to trust in a vapor that passes away. James talks a great deal about economic justice for the poor, saying that, one day, our gold and silver will not buy anything. Here are some stark lessons for a future that may be just around the corner.

Money: we all need it. But one day the money we crave will be no more.  All that gives us security will vanish, and that’s the day of final judgment. Then, what we are on the inside will be all that matters.
