When a potter throws clay on his wheel, that clay has no choice about what it is going to become. It’s job is to be still and be transformed. Seeing ourselves as clay helps us avoid the “I’m in charge” attitude we all too often have. As the Potter, God is in charge, and He has a purpose we cannot see, a purpose that will take us through the fire so that, one day, we will come out as gold.
