Living With Your Passions
In a hyper-sexualized culture, sex is either reduced to pleasure-seeking or conflated with our identity. But God designed us as sexual beings for emotional and spiritual intimacy whose highest calling is to worship Him. In this revised edition, Pastor Erwin Lutzer draws on forty years of ministry experience to present a rationale for sexual purity. He gives an honest answer to the sexual pressures we face like extramarital relationships, self-gratification, same-sex attraction, and more. As desire-driven creatures, we don't have to pursue happiness at the expense of character. With our identity grounded in Christ, we can live victoriously with our passions. When you’re hit with bad news you can scarcely absorb, a friend can be a great help. However, the friends of Job were scant comfort when he was undergoing severe trials. Their advice demonstrates the limits of human understanding.
July 13, 2018
Sometimes, well-meaning friends can do more harm than good. Some of Job’s friends tried to “help” the suffering Job. Truly, with friends like these, who needs enemies? This story reveals our human limitations in understanding God’s purposes.

There are far worse things to lose than one’s possessions. Even Job’s great faith was tested when he lost his health and his children. How would you handle the loss of everything? Would you curse God and die, as Job’s wife recommended?
