The Reformation - Erfurt (The 500th Anniversary with Commentary)

October 24, 2017

What would you do to be right with a holy God? 500 years ago, one man did about all he could do. Martin Luther sought divine approval by becoming a monk. In this message we go to the city of Erfurt, the very place where the great reformer sought peace with God. Pastor Lutzer and Dr. Jelinek provide commentary.

Living With Your Passions
In a hyper-sexualized culture, sex is either reduced to pleasure-seeking or conflated with our identity. But God designed us as sexual beings for emotional and spiritual intimacy whose highest calling is to worship Him. In this revised edition, Pastor Erwin Lutzer draws on forty years of ministry experience to present a rationale for sexual purity. He gives an honest answer to the sexual pressures we face like extramarital relationships, self-gratification, same-sex attraction, and more. As desire-driven creatures, we don't have to pursue happiness at the expense of character. With our identity grounded in Christ, we can live victoriously with our passions. For the Apostle Paul, love is the glue that binds together the body of Christ and makes it a place of mutual service. Without love, our best efforts are without true purpose. In this message, we turn to a famous Bible chapter to learn why love is the highest motivator of all.
