God Yes, But Why Jesus, Part 4 (God Yes, But Why Jesus)

December 29, 2017

Living With Your Passions
In a hyper-sexualized culture, sex is either reduced to pleasure-seeking or conflated with our identity. But God designed us as sexual beings for emotional and spiritual intimacy whose highest calling is to worship Him. In this revised edition, Pastor Erwin Lutzer draws on forty years of ministry experience to present a rationale for sexual purity. He gives an honest answer to the sexual pressures we face like extramarital relationships, self-gratification, same-sex attraction, and more. As desire-driven creatures, we don't have to pursue happiness at the expense of character. With our identity grounded in Christ, we can live victoriously with our passions. December 25th was not the day Jesus was born, but it is the date set aside for us to honor that birth. For Mary His mother, that birth began a long period of pain and sorrow, a personal toll we seldom consider during this time of year.

Jesus said, “Everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. If the Son sets you free, you shall be free indeed.” That’s great news! Freedom is more than not being in jail. Freedom is living without the shackles of sin and its penalty.

“Greater love hath no man, than a man lay down his life for his friends.” That’s what Jesus said, and that’s what He did. There is no greater love than the love of God through His Son, and that’s a wonderful Christmas gift.
December 19, 2017
Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” The life He offers to those who believe is an eternal one. This Christmas, let’s be thankful for the life our Savior promises, a life that transcends and overcomes our eventual death on earth.
December 18, 2017
At Christmas we’d rather not think about the end of life. But Jesus gives eternal life to those who believe in Him. This means that death is not the end. Instead, death will give way to victory as we enter into the real life we were meant to live.
