God, Why Me?, Part 1 of 2 (God, Why Me?)

July 6, 2018

Living With Your Passions
In a hyper-sexualized culture, sex is either reduced to pleasure-seeking or conflated with our identity. But God designed us as sexual beings for emotional and spiritual intimacy whose highest calling is to worship Him. In this revised edition, Pastor Erwin Lutzer draws on forty years of ministry experience to present a rationale for sexual purity. He gives an honest answer to the sexual pressures we face like extramarital relationships, self-gratification, same-sex attraction, and more. As desire-driven creatures, we don't have to pursue happiness at the expense of character. With our identity grounded in Christ, we can live victoriously with our passions. As the U.S. government increasingly decides which laws to enforce, we get laws that contravene not just the constitution, but also, common sense. Pastor Lutzer brings a message about what happens when a nation forgets God. This happened in Nazi Germany, and it’s quickly happening here as well.

As we once again commemorate America’s birthday, Pastor Lutzer brings a sobering reminder of what happens when a nation forgets God. Germany in the 1930’s faced economic ruin, and they turned to a man who promised a way out to a new era of national greatness. But Adolph Hitler started a World War. What happens if we, too, forget God?

Faith always leads to ultimate victory, but it may not change our immediate circumstances. Regardless of the turmoil which may fill our lives, can we find ourselves content with the God to whom we pray?

Many people have long-term health issues. When they pray for healing, the answer appears to be an ongoing “no.” They hear the verse, “my strength is made perfect in weakness,” and wish their answer had been “here’s the healing you seek.” Are you disappointed with God?

When Christians are in need, they naturally pray for God to provide. Sometimes the answer is “no.” How we react to that answer is crucial. We must come to understand that even the “no” answers are still answers from a gracious God.

It’s tough taking “no” for an answer. But there are times when the answer to a believer’s prayer is a clear “no.” We have a choice:  these times can either make us resentful, or, they can increase our faith. In this message we learn how to respond when God answers in the negative.

Habakkuk the prophet’s complaints belong on today’s front page. Evildoers are having a field day and the foundations of the nation are being torn apart. Yet in the midst of turmoil, the prophet has a burst of faith that God is still in charge.
June 27, 2018
Our nation seems to be heading in a downward spiral. It’s like the scenario painted by Habakkuk the prophet: things were bad and getting worse. He was asking God “Where are You?” In this message we learn important lessons about prayer.

When God answers prayer in ways we don’t expect, we’re reminded that we need Him more than the answers. We must make sure our relationship with God is strong, realizing that knowing Him is more vital than getting what we want.
June 25, 2018
Prayer is often mysterious. We’re commanded to ask in faith, without doubting. But the answers sometimes come from unexpected directions, even unrelated to our specific request. In this message we learn about answers in disguise.
