The Eclipse Of God
Just as the moon obscures the sun’s light during an eclipse, today’s radical secularism has obscured the light of God. But God’s light still shines—and He is calling us to shine His light in our growing darkness. Is God more tolerant than He used to be? Pastor Lutzer shows how God is both a God of wrath as well as grace; that He is both merciful and just, and both a redeemer and a judge. Deepen your love for our unchangeable God of the Bible and be empowered to proclaim the light of truth in a culture of darkness. Many people pray for years, asking God for deliverance from appalling situations. But the answer never seems to come. We need to remember that faith is not getting what we want; faith says we accept what God gives us.

Many people have health issues that have no resolution without a miracle of God. Though God occasionally answers with a miracle, most still receive the answer “no.” Are you one of these people? Are you disappointed with God?

When Christians find themselves in need, they naturally pray for God to provide. When the answer is “no,” how we react is crucial. Remember that even “no” answers are still answers. God is fully aware of our needs and what’s best for us.

When you pray for something and the answer is “no,” do you wonder what to do? Well, you’re in good company. The Apostle Paul had a great need…he sought the Lord repeatedly for relief. But the answer was “No, My grace is sufficient for you. My strength is made perfect in weakness.”

As God’s children, there are times when the answer to a prayer of ours is a clear “no.” We have a choice: these times can either make us resentful, or, they can increase our faith. In this message, learn how to react and respond when God denies a petition we make to Him.

Habakkuk the prophet lived in a time of turmoil not unlike our own. He had a remarkable dialog with God, a dialog that reveals the prophet’s journey of faith from frustration to the calm assurance that God is in charge.

Evildoers were having a field day, and the foundations of the nation were being torn apart. Yet, in the midst of turmoil, the prophet Habakkuk had a burst of faith that God was still in charge, just as God still reigns over the USA.

The prophet Habakkuk’s dialogs with God show a man wrestling with how God could seemingly be out of touch with how tough things were. Let’s get into the heart of the prophet’s complaint as we learn lessons on praying during dark times.

America is heading toward more government control and less freedom. So, what should Christians do? It’s the scenario painted by the prophet Habakkuk: things were bad and getting worse. He was asking God, “Where are You?”

When God answers prayer in ways we don’t expect, He reminds us that it’s Him we really need. Today, let’s make sure our relationships with God are strong and growing, because knowing Him is far more vital than getting what we want from Him.
