Whenever we look for satisfaction in possessions, we find that we never have enough. But God has promised to provide for all our needs. And His will for us is to be content. Only God can end our jealous attitudes and give us hearts of repentance. We must rely on God to meet our needs as He sees fit.

The sin nobody sees can light fires of lasting conflict. Covetousness, longing for what others have, is a recipe for ongoing discontent. And God’s will for us is to be content. The tenth commandment makes it clear: we are not to covet.

There’s something in all of us that wants what others have. But no matter how many possessions we acquire, we can’t take them with us after we die. And this should change our perspective today. The sin of coveting is what God addresses in the last of the Ten Commandments.
