Living With Your Passions
In a hyper-sexualized culture, sex is either reduced to pleasure-seeking or conflated with our identity. But God designed us as sexual beings for emotional and spiritual intimacy whose highest calling is to worship Him. In this revised edition, Pastor Erwin Lutzer draws on forty years of ministry experience to present a rationale for sexual purity. He gives an honest answer to the sexual pressures we face like extramarital relationships, self-gratification, same-sex attraction, and more. As desire-driven creatures, we don't have to pursue happiness at the expense of character. With our identity grounded in Christ, we can live victoriously with our passions. After studying the Ten Commandments, many are uncomfortable with its prohibitions. But these directions are tied together with love. We must learn to obey the greatest commandments: love God and love our neighbors. This takes supernatural power, since our natural inclination is to love only ourselves. In this message we learn more on the lifelong process of learning to love God and others.

Written by God on tablets of stone, the Ten Commandments defined proper behavior. Those who know and love God not only follow these ten laws, but on a higher plane, follow an eleventh commandment: to “Love one another, as I have loved you.” In this message we sum up our study of the Ten Commandments by learning how Jesus fulfills the Law in love.

Whenever we look for satisfaction in possessions, we find that we never have enough. But God has promised to provide for all our needs. And His will for us is to be content. Only God can end our jealous attitudes and give us hearts of repentance. We must rely on God to meet our needs as He sees fit.

The sin nobody sees can light fires of lasting conflict. Covetousness, longing for what others have, is a recipe for ongoing discontent. And God’s will for us is to be content. The tenth commandment makes it clear: we are not to covet.

There’s something in all of us that wants what others have. But no matter how many possessions we acquire, we can’t take them with us after we die. And this should change our perspective today. The sin of coveting is what God addresses in the last of the Ten Commandments.

You can’t win in the race of life when you don’t tell the truth. God made it plain in commandment number nine: do not bear false witness. Whether it’s a “little white lie” or an elaborate deception, any falsehood breaks this commandment. In this message we find out why lying is so prevalent, and so destructive.

A holy life requires honesty—telling the truth. As we explore the ninth of the Ten Commandments, we’ll see why this sin is so prevalent, and so destructive. Imagine you’re in court. Will you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?
August 17, 2020
Many people frequently exaggerate, brag, or slander. For some, telling a “white lie” is okay. But it’s not okay with God. If what comes out of our mouth is inconsistent with how we live, then we are liars. Lying violates the ninth commandment in the Bible, and God values integrity. Do you always tell the truth?

Theft is theft, whether large or small. It can be obvious theft, such as robbery; but it can also be hidden theft, such as tax fraud, stealing time, or even not paying back a loan. In this message on the eighth commandment, we consider how when we steal, we steal from God.

Whether we steal office supplies, or an employer’s time, stealing violates a prime directive from God. The eighth commandment tells us to respect the property rights of others. God takes note when we fail to do so. In this message we learn more about the eighth commandment.
