Living With Your Passions
In a hyper-sexualized culture, sex is either reduced to pleasure-seeking or conflated with our identity. But God designed us as sexual beings for emotional and spiritual intimacy whose highest calling is to worship Him. In this revised edition, Pastor Erwin Lutzer draws on forty years of ministry experience to present a rationale for sexual purity. He gives an honest answer to the sexual pressures we face like extramarital relationships, self-gratification, same-sex attraction, and more. As desire-driven creatures, we don't have to pursue happiness at the expense of character. With our identity grounded in Christ, we can live victoriously with our passions. When we think of great evangelists, many point to Billy Graham. But in the 1800s, another man grabbed the attention of people both in America and in England. D. L.  Moody transfixed huge crowds for weeks at a time. He had no seminary degree, but he was a man wholly sold out to God.

The Moody Church was named after Dwight Lyman Moody, a shoe salesman from Boston. He was a man who heard the call of God to be a man whom God could use without limit. He began this church in 1864, and it’s still carrying out his vision today.

Jesus never lived like the king He was. D. L. Moody sought to follow His humble example. Both had a laser-like focus on doing the will of God. Both lived simple lives. Both had few possessions. What mattered to Jesus, and to Moody, was people—that they might hear the way of salvation.

Some say meeting the needs of the poor is best left to the government. Not D. L. Moody. He took the Gospel to the most impoverished parts of 19th century Chicago, leaving a legacy of service and of dogged determination that everyone deserved to hear the message of Christ.

Over a century ago, Dwight Lyman Moody sought opportunity by moving west from Boston to Chicago. He came to make his fortune, but God had bigger plans. Moody ended up founding both The Moody Church and the Moody Bible Institute.

It’s all too easy to get lost in the internet’s infinite links and forget that our kids are growing up in a culture that wants to corrupt their souls and create addicts to immorality. Here is a final challenge to parents to get involved in the lives of their kids and reclaim their family.
