One Minute After You Die
Many people spend more time planning for a vacation than preparing for eternity. Perhaps it doesn't seem real that we will still exist—fully conscious and alive—beyond the grave. But it's true, and it calls for careful consideration. In this updated edition of One Minute After You Die, bestselling author Erwin Lutzer urges readers to study what the Bible says. Can near-death experiences teach us anything about life after death? How can we prepare for our own final moment? With 700,000 copies in print, this bestselling work makes an encouraging gift for believers and a tasteful word of caution for the undecided. In the Old Testament, God’s glory was only seen by a few. Moses saw it, crying out to see more. But Paul wrote that “when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed.” Now we can behold, and be changed by the glory of God.

“And we with unveiled face beholding the glory of the Lord are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another.” That change depends on believers renouncing sin in their lives.

The trials of Job would make any of us give up. Ten dead children is a tragedy so difficult to imagine. His wife said, “curse God and die.” But Job persisted until he could say to God, “I had heard of You, but now my eyes have seen you.”

Believers know that God has a purpose in their suffering–a purpose we can’t fathom while in the deep valley. Can we realize that the ultimate good of God’s glory far outweighs the pain we encounter along the way?

Suffering teaches lessons that an easy life can never teach. Job’s terrible trials brought him face to face with God. Let’s look at the life of the Apostle Paul, a man with a God-given thorn in the flesh.

Sooner or later, we all experience suffering. But believers have the promise that suffering for the sake of Jesus will be rewarded. But nothing else matters but the glory of God, especially when we’re in pain.

Corinth was a moral cesspool; its pagan temple was filled with prostitutes. The church there was plagued with sexual sins including incest. As a result, we have very clear teaching on how a Christian can glorify God by treating sexuality the way it was intended.
March 23, 2017
One way for believers to handle the temptation of sex outside of marriage is to realize Who is present during it all. God Himself is a witness since the believer is indwelt by the Holy Spirit. God looks seriously at our sexuality.
March 22, 2017
Sex creates very deep bonds between people. It joins them metaphysically, whether married or not. For believers, that joining affects their relationships with Christ. Can our sex lives glorify God?
March 21, 2017
Every one of us is a sexual being. No area of life is more challenging for a believer. First Corinthians was written to a church with serious moral issues. Let’s see our sex lives through the prism of the glory of God.
