Instead of being silent and doing nothing about the issue of abortion, Christians need to take a stand for what is right and defend millions of innocent lives lost. Jesus did not see His death as an inconvenience to Himself but rather willingly accepted it in order to save us.

Jesus modeled for us what it looks like to be a servant leader. We must follow His example and be willing to serve anyone and everyone, preparing them as they grow spiritually to do the same.

The Bible talks about God’s character and all the things He made as good. In His mercy, He works in us to manifest goodness and mercy in our lives everywhere we go. Our response to Him needs to be allowing the sin in our lives to break off and trust that what He has for us is always better than what we could try to attain ourselves.

When we use prayer as a means of protecting ourselves and others from attacks of the enemy, we are watching out for and safeguarding against attempts at destroying God’s work. God has given us truth in Scripture as a weapon to use against the lies that the enemy uses to distract us and so we must fight back, all the while praying for protection.

Just as we grow and mature in our physical life, we are supposed to be growing and maturing in our spiritual life. The things that we’re learning need to be applied to our lives so that we can then teach others and help them grow in relationship with God.

We often look to everything else, including food, to fill us in a way that turns into sin. We overindulge out of our need to fill the emptiness inside of us, but Jesus is the only one who can truly fill us. When Jesus fills our lives, change starts happening from the inside out and it effects the world around us.

God has blessed us beyond what we could even comprehend, and the best way to thank Him for all He has given us is to turn around and give Him all we have. David gave us this example when it was recorded how much gold, silver and other jewels he gave merely to decorate the temple of God. All are given much, but few take the time to be thankful.

Just as a mother feeds her baby milk but then at some point weans the child as they grow, God allows for us to feed on spiritual milk until we get to a point of needing to feed ourselves. As growth takes place in our relationship with God, He begins to reveal certain behaviors that we must wean off of and move on from.

There tends to be a direct correlation between an angry person and the lack of gratitude in their lives versus a joyful person and the abundant thankfulness they express. Whether it’s easy or hard to come up with things to thank God for in a certain situation or about a certain person, we must challenge ourselves to find what we can be grateful for and thank Him continually.

The world is watching if what we claim we believe in will be lived out genuinely in our lives. When they are drawn to our authenticity, we must embrace them just as Jesus embraced us and lead them to Him. They will then have the option to receive His gift of salvation or say “Thanks, but no thanks.”

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
