Hell’s Most Wanted

February 25, 2016
The devil has no need to attack those that are already trapped in their own sin. It’s when we live in obedience and faithfulness to God, armoring ourselves with His Spiritual armor and choosing to trust in Him despite our circumstances that we become a threat to hell. Ultimately, the devil will end up in hell for eternity and we must put our trust in God to not end up there with him.

The Bible talks a lot about submission to authority in marriage, child and parent relationships, and elsewhere in life. Ultimately, though, the authority that we must submit to is God because He knows what’s best for us and will direct us in that way.

It is easy to compare ourselves to other people based on what’s on the outside, but God is more focused on working with us on the inside. If we are waiting for God to bring a significant other into our life, we must not compromise our standards but rather let Him work on us while we wait.

The Bible describes Christ as a shepherd and His followers as His sheep. Even though He promises to always come after His sheep that stray, it is better to listen to His voice and obey Him from the beginning. Our life on earth is short and so we need not waste it in disobedience

Due to the number of different world religions there are, people tend to say that there are many ways to get to God. The Bible tells us that the only way to get to God and have eternal life is through believing in His only Son, Jesus Christ.

The Bible tells us that we are lights in a very dark world. Rather than hiding our light we need to go out into the world and contaminate others in a good way with the light that leads them to God. An indicator that we are following Christ in His light is that we have fellowship with other believers.

We can choose to do things our own way and worry about the burdens we carry that weigh us down and exhaust us, or we can do things God’s way. When God works through us rather than us work by ourselves the burden is lifted from our shoulders and we have rest.

We tend to give all of our energy and time to everything else except what matters most which is our relationship with God. The Bible tells us that you cannot serve two masters so instead of serving everything else, serve God first and everything else will fall into place. True eternal success is when God says, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

God doesn’t want us to just know facts about Him but rather to know Him intimately. When we spend time with Him, our relationship grows and we get to know Him deeper as He already knows us completely. The more we know Him intimately, the more we can hear His voice and obey Him.

There are times in our lives when we feel trapped in a sin or other difficult situation and we need help but we are too afraid to ask. Until we go to God with our imperfections we will never be able to stop destroying our lives. We need to let God use others to help us so that one day we can help others.

The Old Testament gives us a picture of the detailed Tabernacle that God had His people build to worship Him. While it was beautiful and important, the purpose of all of it was to slaughter an animal and spill its blood to cover the sins of the people. Since Christ was the final sacrifice whose blood can cover all of our sins, we can go to Him to be clean from our past, present and future.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
