Looking forward to your wedding day

October 26, 2011

For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

There was a young lady who came in the church offices awhile back. I noticed she was smiling and in such a good mood. And just as I suspected, I looked down at her hand and she was wearing an engagement ring!

Now, she wasn’t excited about the metal of the band or even the jewel that was in the ring. More than anything else, she was excited about what it symbolized… the pledge of the coming marriage. You see, when a couple is engaged, everything they do centers on looking forward to the day when they are married.

In the same way, those of us who are in Christ are waiting for a wedding in the sky. Our heavenly bridegroom has promised to come for us. We are His church; we are His people; we are His bride! And one of these days the angel is going to shout, and the trumpet will sound, and we’ll be caught up together with Him forever.

In these days, there are struggles and there are trials. There is hurt… there is pain… and there is difficulty! But if we remember what we’re promised, that we’ll one day be forever united with God in heaven, we can live each day looking forward to that wonderful wedding in the sky when we’ll be united forever with our Heavenly Father!

THOUGH LIFE IS FILLED WITH HARDSHIP AND PAIN, REMEMBER GOD’S PROMISE THAT ONE DAY YOU’LL BE FOREVER UNITED WITH HIM!
