Countless Christians throughout the ages have followed in their Lord's footsteps, receiving only slander, rebuke, social rejection, alienation from loved ones, persecution, and even death for their merciful efforts. But Jesus didn't guarantee merciful treatment from others. No, instead, he promised that God would be merciful to you as you show mercy to others.

So trust in God and be merciful. Then God will use your life for his glory and reward you accordingly. This is John MacArthur, encouraging you to live as portraits of grace.
