Given the mandate of taking the gospel to the Gentile world, the Apostle Paul went boldly into what is now modern Turkey and Greece. His early attempts to evangelize got him in hot water. In a city called Philippi, he and his partner Silas ended up being whipped and tossed into a high security cell in the local lockup. But as the light began to penetrate that pagan culture, a great miracle underscored the Gospel’s power.
