God Warning His People to Repent Part 2

March 11, 2021

Those of you parents can no doubt relate to this.  You see your child involved in downright ugly behavior, and you know full well what that leads to.  So you warn them. Much like a loving parent God will warn His children of what will happen if they don’t change their ways and repent. As we open our Bibles to Ezekiel chapter four, we’re given a graphic picture of what sin will do in our lives if left unchecked.  It’s meant to expose just how ugly sin is, but also encourage us to steer clear of it and repent.

God not only works in mysterious ways but sometimes with drastic measures like a well-placed two by four. Sometimes that’s what it takes to get the attention of some. We have just begun the Old Testament book of Ezekiel. And as we move into chapter four we learn God’s people we’re not doing what He called them to do, but worse yet they we’re not the least bit attentive to His word. So to get their attention God has His prophet perform a little street theatre.

As we move into Ezekiel chapter three you’ll see Ezekiel was called by God to reach out and declare His message to a tough audience.  And he resented it at first.  So how do you react when God calls you to a difficult task?  Think that over with us, and be encouraged to embrace the call and leave the results up to the Lord.

Have you ever been asked to deliver a message that you knew wouldn’t be well received?  Today on Light on the Hill Ezekiel receives a call much like that.  He was to deliver God’s message to a people that didn’t want to hear or receive it.  Not an easy task.  And to get the job done, the Lord told Him you’re going to need to internalize the Word of God, and know it inside and out.  Pastor James Kaddis believes we need to do the same, as we face the challenges of life.

As Christians we’re in a fierce battle, and the world is getting more wicked by the minute.  We also look at what has happened recently in the political realm, and the Covid 19 Pandemic… and a lot of people are on edge and anxious as a result!  But God doesn’t want you to live that way.  So today on Light on the Hill pastor James Kaddis wants to take us to Matthew chapter six, and show us how to walk away from that fear and anxiety.

We’re in the opening chapter of the book of Ezekiel. And in it the prophet is given a remarkable vision of what very well may have been Jesus. What a comfort it must have been to him as he was captive in Babylon. Along with that he receives his call!

The bible predicts complex and detailed world events with complete accuracy. But the bible also speaks to our human condition like no other book. We’ll hear more about this as we begin a new book today on Light on the Hill – that’s the book of Ezekiel.

The book of Ezekiel predicts an invasion upon Israel by surrounding nations in the last days.  Could the stage be set for this to occur, possibly in our generation?  We'll talk about it today on Light on the Hill.  Pastor James Kaddis is just getting started in Ezekiel, and today he’s going to offer a quick summary of the book.

So glad you could join us, as we’re about to introduce our series in Ezekiel.  As we normally like to do, we’ll spend some time getting to know the author, and present a summary of the book.  If you’re going through a hard time right now, and many are, Ezekiel could relate.  He lived a hard life, and yet God would use him in tremendous ways.

Here on our Monday edition of Light on the Hill we continue our introduction to the Prophets.  It’s laying some important groundwork for our upcoming series in Ezekiel, which by the way we’ll start tomorrow.  If you’ll recall, a prophet is someone who speaks on behalf of God.  And there were many in Old Testament times, that God would use.  Let’s take a look at a few of them today, with pastor James Kaddis.

Pastor James Kaddis will be in Jeremiah chapter four this week.  Here we find the prophet Jeremiah crying out, judgement is coming if you don’t change.  Very sadly the people were walking in rebellion, with a hard heart.  Similar to what we find in our society.  It’s important to remember, when judgement like this falls, it’s because of man’s own doing.  It’s not something God wants to do.
